I’m an Enabler
By Kendra | August 21, 2009

Sometimes getting in the play yard to keep the baby happy is the only way I can read aloud to every one else in peace.

I hear you; I would do the same thing. I usually put the 2 yo to bed (when I read the chapter books), and then read to my more attentive 6 and 4 yo. I wish I could read to my busy 2 yo more often.

Do what you’ve gotta do! Yeah for you and yeah for the play yard. I really couldn’t imagine life with little ones, without it.

Love it!! I wish I would have invested in a play yard a long time ago, but ah well…we continue to live without it. It helps that our 12 and 10 year olds don’t mind helping to get the 1 year old out her out of pickles that she gets herself in. I’m thinking read aloud time (we’re on the book about brothers and sisters) might be better left out of circle time and put into the afternoon when baby is napping. Christine has a good idea.
Thanks for keeping it real!!

This reminds me of the baby gate I had when my twins were about 18 mos old. They would babble something to each other, then both lean on the gate and down it would come. There wasn’t much that would hold them back!! One of them was a climber…who you say?….I’m not telling….he would pull out the kitchen drawers and use them for steps…..oh, it was great fun!! I have pictures!! Thanks for the memories.
Love the picture of you and your little ones.

Cute, but my back hurts seeing it!

We had the actual one that has legs, so Mommy couldn’t get in there. Something about weight limits or something.
Anyway, I always put another kid in there with baby. Baby liked it better that way. And my crazy children thought it was just the greatest thing in the WORLD to get in there with baby! Go figure!
Thanks for sharing such a CUTE pic!!

This is great! If I had the space, I’d want one of these…but I just use baby gates as needed
I think being the momma couch though must be fun for the littles as you read
Thanks for sharing your trick!
Lots of love,
Sommer

Yeah, I’d have to be a little more curled up than that, too!

That’s my two-year-old’s favorite spot too. I can’t get on the floor without Josiah deciding its time to climb on mom’s back! Haven’t tried reading to him in that position yet.

Oh, it makes me so, SO happy!!!

From a mom who can no longer get on the floor (well, okay, I can get on the floor–I just can’t get back up), I say, YOU GO GIRL!

Made me smile.
