I’m a Cheater

By Kendra | August 14, 2009

Sometimes lesson planning has to be done down the path of least resistance.  Instead of making a separate spreadsheet for this particular curriculum, I just wrote right in the book.

I started by labeling the first unit with pertinent info.

Then I marked each unit by date and each section with the day of the week I want him to work on that particular section.

Done!  (and sort of cheating)

Have you ever posted your ‘curriculum’ for this year? Don’t I sound like a way too interested cyber woman?? I’m not..honest :-) You have similar ages to mine (and most everyone to some degree) and I enjoyed your last posts about all sorts of curriculum. I saw the Red Herring spot on summer schedule and my interest was peaked. No pressure…

Is it Ignite your Writing? Or Jump In? Or something completely different?

Hey Kendra, can I ask “what” the curriculum is? It looks helpful (I’m trying to figure out how to teach my 5th grader to write proper reports and so on…)

I’ve copied pages from “lesson plan” books (such as the manual from My Father’s World) and had the planning pages rebound, to make my own “write all over it” edition. Works for me!

    Not cheating, but rather efficient.

Cheater? With science, I highlighted the question’s and expiraments I wanted J to do. He didn’t write in the book – so now it’s done for the next kid!
When I photo copied a book for the third boy I almost made a separate spread sheet because, then I remembered your suggestion. I didn’t want him to move as quickly as the other two have so I wrote on the pages what I wanted him to do when. Time saver! -D

I don’t consider that cheating at all! I consider that a wise use of your time and the resources at hand.

It’s Write Your Roots. I was really happy with Learn to Write the Novel Way for my firstborn strong writer, and I’m excited about Write Your Roots (same publisher) for my third born guy who isn’t as prolific as the first but is a grounded writer, too.

Girlfriend, I do that all the time! If that is cheating then I am guilty! LOL I do it in their workbooks if they have them. I just started doing it to John’s Writing Tales. I am so looking forward to using that and all because of you. :D

    XO,
    Kate
