Tuesday Morning Update
By Kendra | July 1, 2008
Sorry I don’t have a photo this morning. My photographer (Andy) went home to take care of the kids and his dental practice. I’ve wanted to get a few pictures of our little guy, so I will put a few pictures up later today when I get the chance.
Rejoice with us about what God has done in Mighty Joe:
*Liver enzymes have dropped and his liver is not as swollen!
*All his blood numbers are showing improvement!
*His food amount has increased five-fold without any side effects!
*I have been able to hold/rock him each day!
*I am feeling better too! (Thanks for praying for me!)
Prayer Requests:
His kidneys still aren’t working.
He is still making “stupid pee” and now he is making too much!
The ER sent a report that he tested positive for a nasty bacterial infection, so that means more antibiotics (filtered through liver and kidneys that aren’t fully functional).
General Prayers:
*His immune system to start working against the virus.
*All the other PICU symptoms which will begin – rejection of catheters, skin rash, etc…
Parent’s Assessment
He is still very swollen, but overall today is a better day and I see little improvements in his alertness and his ability to handle a pacifier.
Thanks for praying for Mighty Joe!
Kendra

Hey Kendra!
We’re praying for you guys. I wanted to e-mail you but couldn’t find the address. Are you guys at Children’s here in Fresno? If so, can Brian and I come and pray with you and bring you goodies?! Reading all this about your little Joe brings back a lot of memories of our oldest when he was a baby – he had a major heart defect and had surgery as an infant. We, also, stayed in the parking lot of the hospital in my in-laws RV! Let me know if you need anything – esp. if you’re here in town. Our church (Sierra View PCA) is praying for you all!
Much love,
Anna

I just found your blog through another that I read.
My heart goes out to you. My family experienced a similar, but not as bad, ordeal a little over a year ago. Our little one spent 8 days in the hospital fighting a kidney infection and RSV at the tender age of 2 1/2 weeks. I’ll be praying for you and your family during this difficult time.

Dear Kendra, Andy, and Family,
We’re praying for you in Minnesota. Your trust and complete faith in God at this time is very admirable and helpful to me.
Sincerely,
Amy

I don’t know you, but I feel like I do, because I love reading your blog! I’ve been praying for Mighty Joe. You are such a wonderful testimony. . . . I think God’s up there telling anyone who will listen how proud he is of you and your husband.

Dear Kendra and family,
Our prayers have been with you and Joe as soon as we heard. I know both you and your family have a wonderful God who cares and loves you.
We were so glad to read on the blog today that Joe is doing better. Will continue to pray. Rest in HIM.

To my dear sweet sister,
I just read the email from Lisa about your new baby boy’s illness. We will be praying fervently for his healing, and for your health. I will pray that you will know Him to be your perfectly sufficient refuge during this difficult time of trial and affliction. J.I. Packer wrote, “We see that He leaves us in a world of sin to be tried, belaboured by troubles that threaten to crush us-in order that we may glorify Him by our patience under suffering, and in order that He may dispaly the riches of His grace and call forth new praises from us as He constantly uphold and delivers us.” Amen and Amen! Sending you my love and hugs, Kimberly

Kendra–

Our whole family remembers yours in our prayers at each meal. The boys even beg to check for new progress here during the day. Praise the Lord for the progress already, and hopeful for even greater things!

I just wanted you to know I am praying so hard for your son, but also for your strength and for God to be so near to you! Thank God for His love and closeness. I also wanted to share that about 8 years ago a friend of mine went through almost identical situation with her infant son and he was just almost shut down, but he pulled through and totally recovered and is now a healthy happy child!!! They never knew exactly what infection he had, but thank God He is the great physician!!! Just know in your darkest moment you are being lifted up in prayer and your entire family.
God Bless you!!!
