Monday Night Update

By Kendra | June 30, 2008

Hi everyone! This is Kendra, writing from my in-laws’ beautiful, comfortable motor home in the parking lot of the hospital. What a huge blessing! Tonight when I left Mighty Joe, my sister-in-law the nurse and my brother walked me out, so I felt very safe and loved. Isn’t it amazing that Mighty Joe’s auntie works here??? God is so, so good to us.

If I could figure out how to post a photo of Joe I took from my phone, I would love to show you how he was sucking a pacifier and looking so good tonight. His facial swelling has decreased significantly over the course of the day, and I felt he looked better even over the last several hours tonight. I love ending his day by singing into his ear and sneaking kisses on his cheek. Not sure if the infectious diseases doctor would approve, but boy do I love those cheeks!

In a reverse of things tonight, it looks as if Mighty Joe is producing too much pee. Not sure what that means for him over the course of the night or tomorrow, but it is something that can be prayed for further.

I have had the lyrics to The Love of God running through my brain today:

The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.

* Refrain:
Oh, love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure—
The saints’ and angels’ song.

When hoary time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam’s race—
The saints’ and angels’ song.

Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

    Our Lord is so much mightier than any adversary. No matter what the circumstances that the enemy may like to use against us, our Heavenly Father always turns it around for good. It is so easy to say these words, but I see God at work in your situation. Whenever I think of you and pray for you the well-known phrase from Esther comes to mind – “…for such a time as this.” (Es. 4:14) Mighty Joe is being loving held by Jesus and I truely believe that this trial will end with an awesome testimony. Already there is so much to praise for! (((HUGS))) to you and your family.
    Continuing to pray,

    Not that I’m checking your blog continually, but phewf- an update! Tonight after I prayed with the girls Lydie asked me to pray again for little Joe. No problem! : )

    So glad you are worshiping. God is so good.

    Love,
    Rebecca

    P.S. I’m not a doctor, but I think kissing baby cheeks is always good. : )

    I don’t know if you remember or not but we were pregnant about the same time. Our daughter, Abigail Elizabeth, was born just two days after your little Joe. Our children have been praying for Joe. We lift up a prayer for him at meals, before bed and whenever we think of him during the day. When I’m at the computer they ask for an update on little Joe. They walk around the house singing the theme song to the Veggie T*les’ “Little Joe”. Every time I hear it I lift up a prayer for him. I sit to nurse our baby and I lift up a prayer for him…and you. When our two year old was 2 weeks old he came down with RSV and Pneumonia. We had an ambulance ride to the hospital and a week long stay. It was very hard for this post partum mom and for our entire family. My husband tried to help out at home and be there for me and little Eli. My mom was a huge help with the children. I think of you often and lift you up in prayer. Thank you for keeping all of us updated.

    Hugs and prayers,
    Carmen in Indiana

    P.S. Your husband’s blog is something else! What a laugh! I think he and my husband must be long lost brothers!

    Followed a link from a friend on Xanga. May God continue to pour out His grace while you walk through this valley. I’m rejoicing in His kindness toward you thus far and His care for your son! He is one prayed over little fellow!!! Word is definitely spreading. May God be glorified and the word of your testimony be GREAT!

    Kendra~

    I made a personal prayer list this morning, of people who are on my heart that I will be lifting up through the days.

    You and Joe are on that list.

    Your story captured my heart…

    I love that hymn. Hymns actually happen to be my family’s favorite songs.

    I hope you feel enveloped in the love of God today. I pray that His presence is very personal and tangible around you, over you, before you and behind you today.

    With love,
    Leanne in Longview

    Kendra,

    I saw your blog for the first time on Friday or Saturday, (following a link from WTM board I think) then when I went to check it again yesterday I saw all the news on your precious little one. Since then I’ve been praying continually for him and checking back often to see how he’s doing. What a blessing to be able to stay so near in your own space! Blessings to you, your husband and your other children, and of course prayers of healing for your precious little Joe…er…Mighty Joe. :)

    Just found your blog by way of Heart of the Matter. We will be praying for Joe and the rest of your family. It is so encouraging to see that he is already doing better and that he has parents that know the Ultimate Healer!!

    May God give you all peace and strength today and everyday.
