Ruth Heller Verb Book

Vigorous Verbs, illustrated by 10-year-old
So, I told you about using the Ruth Heller grammar books during Circle Time. And I could be really impressive, scholarly, and important-sounding if I showed you the deep sentences my children wrote. Instead, I give you the truth. Sentences about helping verbs:
13-year-old boy: “We had gone to the bomb factory where we blew up.”
10-year-old boy: “Johnny was going to blow himself up.”
8-year-old girl: “I should have done the room faster.”
6-year-old girl: “He was flying until he fell and broke his head.”
What’s with all the blood and gore? That 8-year-old, however. A sentence about tidying her room. Now that’s a girl after my own heart!
