How Can We Help Haiti?
By Kendra | January 14, 2010

Our dear friends Eric and Lisa Kjeldgaard and their daughter Kate are advocates for Compassion International. I asked Lisa how I could best inform readers of practical ways they could help the suffering in Haiti and she directed me to Compassion’s Haiti Earthquake Response Fund.
Further updates on the quake devestation and Compassion’s involvement can be found here.
If you would like to assist Compassion with relief efforts from your mobile phone, you can text “disaster” to 90999 to give $10 to Haiti relief efforts.
And pray. The prayers of God’s people avail much.

Just wanted to send out a post that a good friend on facebook shared, in case any of your readers want to go…I believe at this point it IS indeed best to help with the relief via ministries like Compassion as you posted, I just thought that it was good to get this info out as well (o:
“Mark Stuart of Audio Adrenaline & Hands & Feet Mission in Haiti asked to day on K-Love that people NOT go into Haiti right now unless they are experienced in disaster relief. Officials that he had spoke with earlier in the day told him that people who are flooding into the country are hindering the process of the professional teams. there is too much destruction right now for the teams to get around if more people come. They said the best thing you can do right now is send money to a mission organization already established in Haiti or Red Cross or another relief organization, such as Compassion International, so they can get the supplies & the professional help they need. If you truly want to go, please wait because the immediate response is great right now. In a few weeks, the response teams will have had time to get roads cleared & will be needing assistance from those of us who want to help but are not trained professionals.”

Thanks Kendra for posting this. We have dear friends that are dual residents (Florida and in Haiti) and run a wonderful Christian ministry. Their headquarters has been destroyed, but the still have their lives. We are also praising the Lord that their orphange and school that cares for 524 children in the mountains was not damaged! If you would like to read updates from the area you can go here as well: http://www.icdm.us/
