She only lived four weeks (longer than expected for a trisomy 13 baby). I remember how wonderful the whole experience was. (Of course, it was difficult, too.) I still thank God for the gift of that little one, and for all of the surprising changes she sparked in the lives of others -- my uncle started seeking after God, my husband started painting, some friends changed their minds about the value of babies "destined to die." God doesn't make mistakes. My daughter's story can be read at www.livingwithtrisomy13.org/memoriesofeffie.htm. There are a lot of scripture verses included (the ones that I read at Effie's graveside service), and these might be comforting for Nate and Debra right now.
